Scott Barker, Principal, PathForward Communications Scott is an accomplished senior-level public affairs practitioner with a successful track record in engaging key stakeholders at the national, state and local levels. With an approach that integrates social, earned, paid media and issue advocacy, Scott has successfully shaped public opinion and influenced policy outcomes on behalf of his clients. Recent successes include: increasing news media coverage of transportation safety issues in Washington state; creating digital and social media engagement strategies that mobilized more than 12,000 state voters to participate in a public issue campaign; developing a “real people” story campaign that built engagement with a client’s global rebranding effort, resulting in improved employee retention; and, building third-party engagement with a trade association’s issue advocacy campaign. Scott has experience working for state and national political campaigns, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and for corporate media relations and public affairs.

Nurry Kwan, Creative Director and Graphic Designer
Nurry Kwan has over 20 years of experience in graphic design, illustrations, animation and web design. He takes great pride in listening to his clients and helping them accomplish their business goals by providing quality solutions with excellent service.
Nurry took an internship while attending college at Honolulu Community College and was quickly hired after he graduated by RevaComm (5 years), an up and coming design studio in Hawaii. During his time at RevaComm he focused on print design, illustrations, animation and web design. After this Nurry moved on to become the Senior Experience Designer at Anthology Marketing Group (12 years), the largest ad agency in Hawaii, where he worked on a multitude of projects ranging from, websites, mobile apps, animations, touchscreen kiosk, online advertising and social media marketing. Nurry currently owns his own business Nurdyk LLC (3 years), an independent graphic design studio that helps small businesses in his community build an online presence.
Some of the notable clients Nurry has worked on include Microsoft, Kenworth Trucks, NIC Government Inc., Hawaii Tourism Authority, Hawaiian Airlines, Hilton Hotels, Bank of Hawaii, Prudential Locations and Punahou School. Nurry is also passionate about giving back to his community by using his skills to help non-profits organizations achieve their goals. Some of these organizations include the Habitat for Humanity, Read to Me International, Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, The Hawaii Agricultural Foundation and the ALS Foundation of Hawaii.

David Fry, Web Development and Technology Strategist
David began building websites before the invention of graphical browsers, creating a text-based personal website on university servers in 1994. In 1999, Fry joined a political consulting company providing websites to major political figures and organizations. Moving to Hawaii in 2002, Fry went back into private practice before joining StarrTech Interactive, the state’s largest web development team. At StarrTech, he was the lead developer on projects for the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, KGMB and KHON, the Honolulu Advertiser and Hilton Hawaiian Village. Fry left StarrTech in 2007 to work as a Legislative Aide for Hawaii House Majority Leader Kirk Caldwell. In 2008, he formed Tanuki Interactive, quickly gaining traction with the hospitality industry. In 2018 Tanuki Interactive began a partnership with PathForward Communications, collaborating on government and non-profit organization web design, strategy and development.

Troy Browder, Videographer, is an Emmy Award winning Multi Media Production Specialist with a diverse background in the television production and film industries. He has extensive experience in producing, shooting, editing, and directing top quality and creative stories for TV, web and mobile devices while adhering to strict, pressurized deadlines. Browder brings more than 30 years of broadcast and production experience to the table.
